Deir el-Medina

Located near the Valley of Kings, Deir el-Medina is the ancient Egyptian village of stonecutters, plasterers, and decorators who worked on building the tombs of the pharaohs. This village is well-preserved and offers a completely different view on life in ancient Egypt that is not seen by visiting museums and temples. Visiting the village, you can see the structures and pathways taken by the workers and you can stop at the Temple of Hathor which is now a Christian monastery.
