Tombs of Beni Hassan

$0.00
Dating back to the middle kingdom, the burial chambers of the Beni Hassan necropolis were established to house the tombs of provincial rulers and military leaders, in what was originally a much older burial site from the old kingdom. The site reflects the political and cultural transition from a decentralized Egypt from the old kingdom to a more recent centralized regime belonging to the middle kingdom. The site houses over 100 tombs, but only 30 containing ancient Egyptian arts and paintings. These tombs depict the daily life of the ancients that house them ranging from hunting, playing sports, and their daily duties. The tombs house some significant figures such as Baqet III, a governor of Minya during the middle kingdom.
