Wadi El-Natroun and the Syrian Monastery

Built by St. Beshoy in the 6th century dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Syrian Monastery has a unique story as there is a cave next to the monastery where St. Beshoy is said to have prayed for days and nights with his hair tied by a chain to the ceiling to prevent him from falling asleep during prayers. This incredible monastery is an entire experience as you can explore the three other churches while listening to amazing stories of sainthood that have occurred in the area during the historical time of persecutions.
